At DuPont, protecting people and the planet is a core value of our company. We commit to protecting people from workplace hazards, aiding in the fight against infectious disease, and doing our part to protect the planet by tackling climate change and water scarcity through innovation and global partnerships. In 2021, we reduced our own greenhouse gas emissions by 10%, increased our share of renewable electricity, and delivered new Water Solutions products to help our customers solve their water challenges.
Acting on Climate
Combatting climate change requires action, innovation and a multi-faceted, collaborative approach. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 30% including sourcing 60% of electricity from renewable energy by 2030 and deliver carbon neutral operations by 2050. We are on track to meet our GHG reduction goal with a 16% reduction of GHG from our baseline to date. In 2021 we increased sourcing of renewable energy RECs to 15% and signed a long-term renewable energy agreement for ~25% of DuPont's total electricity starting in 2023. We also joined RE100, and completed an assessment of our Scope 3 emissions. Our climate action is guided by the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
Leading Water Stewardship
DuPont sees a clear path to a future where all people have access to safe, clean drinking water. Our 2030 goal is to enable millions of people access to clean water through advancing water technology, enacting strategic partnerships, and implementing holistic water strategies across our facilities, prioritizing plants and communities in high-risk watersheds. In 2021 we joined the Water Resilience Coalition and signed the CEO Water Mandate, developed and launched new Water Solutions products for our customers, and worked with Economist Impact to launch a City Water Optimization Index tool. Through our technologies and partnerships, we support millions of people with access to safe, clean water. We have worked with our municipal customers on water treatment expansions and upgrades that have improved drinking water access and quality for more than 5 million people since 2019.
Delivering World-Class Health & Safety Performance
Our commitment to delivering world-class health and safety is embodied in our company values and culture, our stakeholder engagements, and in the health- and safety-enabling innovations we produce. Our goal is to achieve safety performance that exceeds industry benchmarks by 2030. In 2021 we delivered strong safety performance in the top 25% of peer companies. Further, we launched a new Life Saving Behavior Program to accelerate additional improvements and developed a “One EHS” multi-year strategy for a progressively safer and more sustainable future aligned with our evolving portfolio.

Bottling manufacturers have sought to move to dry running conveyors in order to enable the line to operate smoothly without the need for external lubricants that attract dust and require periodic wash off. These issue cause interruptions to productivity and require additional labor, materials and water. The cleaning process also generates wastewater that requires proper disposal.
